The Second Day of Christmas

Coming in a close second on this Second Day of Christmas to trust was LOVE. I was surprised that this one didn't go neck to neck with trust, for it is just as vitally important in submission. When I think of how the two nestle together, a conversation that KYOTKGUY and I had comes back to me, every time.

"Kea, what do we have if we don't have trust?"

I was kneeling in front of him, and I looked up into his eyes as I replied, "Love, Sir."

I was astounded as he shook his head. "No. No, Keagen. . . . . . we can't have one without the other."

Ever since then, the two have been closely tied together in my mind. Trust might form the foundation of submission, but love shores it up, to be certain. If you don't trust someone, you can't love them fully. Without love, it's impossible to give trust. Without either, submission is merely a game. The definition of love does not truly do it justice. We all know the feeling when it's around, but what is it, truly? It's popularly defined as "an intense feeling of deep affection" or "a profoundly tender, passionate affection for another person."

Yes, I would agree that is definitely part of it. . . . . but what else? Love is not always affection. Think of the quote, "I love you with all of my heart, but I don't like you at all, right now." Love is not always affection. Going far deeper, love strikes to the core. Love is total acceptance and understanding. . . . but not always liking. Love is learning to see an unperfect person perfectly. . . . . . . and accepting them for exactly what they are. Love oversees the flaws. Love is, if I'm truly honest, undefinable.

The words, "I love you" are given so often, and often without thought. This isn't a trap I fall into, for I know the power and magic of those three simple words. . . . . . but for many, they're simply ritual. A greeting. A conversation starter. Something to fill the space with. *simply* Don't fall into that trap. Give those three little words back the magic they so richly deserve. . . . . . put the spark back into them, for there are few more powerful words in the English language. Sit down tonight, and think about what those words mean to you, and talk with the one close to you. Share your thoughts, and put a little bit of the sparkle back into your conversation. Don't ever forget what "love" means. . . . . . for without it, TTWD would mean nothing. Build upon the trust you so stably stand on, and add a layer of love. And then, on this day after Christmas. . . . . . . how about showing that person close to you how much you truly love them? *slight grin* The uh, route you take to do so is, of course, completely up to you. :-)

  1. Keagen, for me love has it every time, which comes first love or trust, depends on the individual.
For me LOVE is the firmament and foundation of the multi-verse.
Human love sees perfectly and understands, love is the opposite of blind, it sees us as we really are and still loves.
A good relationship needs many qualities, but in my book love is the peak.
    Warm hugs,
    Paul.
