This is such a deep concept that I honestly have no idea where to start. That was part of my procrastination on this post. . . . . . . I didn't know exactly where to take it. We're going to be doing things bit differently today, for KYOTKGUY is going to offer his perspective, too. Everything written in red is his doing, and the normal color is mine. :-) We'll be going back and forth a couple of times.
The safety and security borne of submission is one of the best feelings in the world. It's also one of the weirdest. I don't exactly know how to define it, or to get the magic across, but there is DEFINITELY a surreal, enchanting calm involved. It's the knowledge that even though one is far weaker, far smaller, subject to the whims of someone else, one is COMPLETELY safe and at ease with that knowledge and practice. (See, here we go, back to trust. Without trust, there would NEVER be any security . . . . simply a wary acceptance, a bitter feeling, and growing angst.) This is where vulnerability ties in. . . . . . . without the knowledge that one is SAFE to be completely vulnerable, one would never relax enough to find the security. In order to allow oneself to be completely vulnerable. . . . . . one must first trust that it's safe to do so. Here we go with the traditional chicken and the egg. :-)
Security has two facets. . . . . . . . a physical and an emotional side. The emotional side is borne of trust, and it's the knowledge that no matter what. . . . . . you're completely safe. No matter what is requested. . . . . it's ok. The physical side is the knowing that the man at your back will protect you, guide you, lead you. . . . . . and while some of that is emotional, there is a very real physical component. Few things make me feel safer than having KYOTKGUY pull me into his arms. No matter what is going on, within that small bubble of just he and I, everything is just fine. He's like my force-field against the world, sometimes. One of my absolutely favorite songs (one that I've listened to FOUR TIMES the amount of any other song in my playlist. . . . ) says it best.
Where do you hide when the sky's crumbling
And where do you stand when you start stumbling
And where do you run when the river rises
And where do you go to find that dry land
My love is deep
And my love is wide
And my love will rock you through the night
And all through this life
You're gonna need
Somewhere to fall
Some where to fly
Som where to leap
Let it be me. . . .
Therein is the charm. I know that beyond a shadow of the doubt, I can run to him every time. I can fall. I can sink. He will be there. Not only that. . . . . .but within the framework of submission, I know that I'm completely safe to be completely helpless at his hands. I wrote a post a few days back about that. . . . . about the realization that it wasn't his strength that I loved. . . . . .it was the knowledge that I didn't have to be afraid of his strength. Why? Because I am completely and totally secure in the knowledge that I am safe in my vulnerability.Hello everyone. . . . let me start by saying that I didn't realize RED was an abnormal color. Why does black get to be normal? Who makes the rules up on this blog anyway? Hmmm, after furtherconsideration, *runs thru chain in my mind, blog belongs to Kea, Kea belongs to me...ah hah* I think I get to make the rules up, so, RED is now Dominantand BLACK is submissive... yeah, that's it. None of this normal / abnormal business. I think I like this blog betternow that that little bit of detail is out of the way.
To answer your query, I'll pick a totally OFF color, Sir. :-) If you'll ever so kindly direct your attention to my blog, you'll notice that my normal color is not BLACK, but a shade of blue. . . . . . *grins* And, since you chose BLACK to define your choice colors, it can't be seen. ;-) (Said words are "black" and "submissive".)
Security is a fairly small word with BIG implications. Words carry so much meaning and few carry more this one. It implies that we can let our guard down, that we can just relax and just "be". We strive for security in life in so many ways. . . . . . through money, through education, through exercise, and through positions of power. Keagen so eloquently explains what those things mean from her perspective, but from mine, they work two different ways.
First, it is my role and my privilege to get to offer security to Keagen in a variety of ways. Sometimes that is by being guardrails, sometimes it is by being a road block and sometimes it's by being a firm u-turn. It is, however, always a privilege to be the one who has the responsibility of keeping her in a place that protects her while also allowing her to grow. You Tops/ Doms know this is often no easy task. How much is too much, not enough, too lenient, too strict, etc. etc. Kea's gift back to me is the security I get in knowing that I can and will make a mistake on occasion, but that her love and devotion doesn't change. She understands that I am human, but I am also always looking out for her and her best interest. So for me, security runs both ways which builds our Love, Trust, and Respect. Never do I feel more at peace than when I am providing a safe haven for Keagen to be able to stretch her wings a bit, knowing that she can never fall far, and even then, my arms will always break her fall and set her firmly back on the ground. If the fall was a result of a poor choice, she has the security in knowing the consequence will be just, but always fair. If it was a fall because of "life" then those same arms will hoist her back up and prepare her to fly again.
Security is defined as freedom from care, anxiety, or doubt; well-founded confidence. To all the subs reading this, take security in your Top. If you can't, then you need a different top or a serious heart to heart with the one you have. To all the Tops, live worthy of your title. Your job is to provide security, your reward is love and devotion beyond measure. Thank you Keagen for my reward.
You're welcome, Sir, beyond measure. . . . . . . .
Keagen, I really enjoyed the exchange between you both. THanks for the insight on security. I love the feeling of being secure
ReplyDeleteMy Sir also makes me feel secure. With that said my family has noticed that I also seem happier than ever (my brother says I sparkle). I put that all down to the security of knowing that Sir R is there for me and helps me to be a better me. :)
ReplyDeleteExactly, Scunge. . . . . . . It's not who I was, or who I am, but who I can be that he sees. . . . that is what makes it perfect. :-)
ReplyDeleteKeagen, missed you yesterday.
ReplyDeleteSecurity is difficult to define, but I belive that between you both you have it right.
That is good advice for tops and would be tops.
Warm hugs,
Paul.
*grins* We work together well as a team. :-)
