The First Day of Christmas (Merry Christmas!!!!)

First and foremost, I hope last night was an exceptionally magical night for you, and that the magic continues tonight. Merry Christmas! :-)

Today starts the traditional First Day of Christmas. And, on today, on the first day of Christmas, we were given TRUST.

I had 29 comments on my post asking what everyone valued the most about their submission, from whichever side they came from. Nearly everyone placed trust within that top three. Without trust, there would be nothing to build a foundation on.

There are two common definitions of trust. The first, and most common, is this: "A firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone." The second strikes a bit closer to home. "To allow someone to have, use, and look after someone or something with inherent value with confidence." The sentence given to illustrate the usage in that sense was "I would trust you with my life."

Therein, my friends, is the kicker. First and foremost is the phrase "to allow." Submission requires someone strong enough to let go. Submission is GIVEN, freely. . . . . . . Submission requires someone (the submissive) to ALLOW someone else to be in control. Giving the gift of submission is not something that should be done easily, or lightly, for one MUST be able to trust the person receiving the gift with their life. . . . . . but it all starts with "allow."

Moving past that, we have the someone. That would be the person in charge, and they have been charged with "having, using, and looking after someone or something with inherent value." The submissive is theirs to protect, to lead, to guide, to love. . . . . . . . . She is meant to be respected (for respect is an inherent part of trust, as seen in the second half of that phrase), not abused. She is meant to be looked after, not left to flounder.

The very last part of the definition is, "with confidence." Trust is not a "kinda" emotion. Either you trust or you don't. There's really not much more to say on that matter.

Wrap it all together, and we're beginning to form the foundation of this wonderful concept we call "submission". By the very definition of "trust", submission cannot exist separate of it. Without trust, there is absolutely nothing left to continue to built.

Today, I want you to consider that fact. As you go through the motions of Christmas, and, hopefully, find some true joy, review the concept of trust, and what it means. On the First Day of Christmas, talk with the one you have gifted with your trust, your submission, and let them know how thankful you are that they treasure it. . . . . . . and talk about the foundation of trust. Repair any cracks that might be there, and prepare yourself for the upcoming New Year, and the upcoming fresh start.

  1. Keagen, looking from the opposite of the fence,
    you are right,
Submission is a gift, perhaps the greatest gift that one can be given, it is also an awesome responsibility.
    Have a great day,
    Warm hugs,
    Paul.
