Today, I want to provide you guys with just a little perspective. You came here today to get some spanking-related humor, or a story from my own life, or, perhaps, to learn a bit about me, or, even, yourself.
Well, today, you're not gonna find that here. Today, I want you to think about your life. This morning, I was sitting in the middle of my living room floor, surrounding by algebra books, notebooks, pens, calculators, and a stack of bills. I was getting ready to break into tears, when a song that I had never heard began to play. I'm going to post the lyrics, and please, read them through. Perhaps they'll give as much perspective to YOUR day as they did mine. . . .
SO SMALL (Carrie Underwood)
What you got if you ain't got love?
The kind that you just wanna give away
It's okay to open up
Go ahead and let the light shine through
I know it's hard on a rainy day
You wanna shut the world out
And just be left alone
But don't run out on your faith
'Cause sometimes that mountain you've been climbing
Is just a grain of sand
And what you've been out there searching for forever
Is in your hands
And when you figure out
Love is all that matters after all
It sure makes everything else
Seem so small
It's so easy to get lost inside
A problem that seems so big at the time
It's like a river that's so wide
It swallows you whole
While you're sitting around thinking 'bout what you can't change
And worrying about all the wrong things
Time's flying by, moving so fast
You better make it count 'cause you can't get it back
Sometimes that mountain you've been climbing
Is just a grain of sand
And what you've been out there searching for forever
Is in your hands
Oh, and when you figure out
Love is all that matters after all
It sure makes everything else
Seem so small!
Sometimes that mountain you've been climbing
Is just a grain of sand
And what you've been out there searching for forever
Is in your hands
And then you figure out
Love is all that matters after all
It sure makes everything else
Oh, it sure makes everything else
Seem so small
*wry grin* This song gave me the reality check that I needed. Yes, life happens. Life happens to EVERYONE, believe it or not. . . . but it doesn't have to get ya down. Think about the joys in life that you DO have. . . . someone who loves you, a best friend, a loyal dog, a job, a place to sleep, food to eat, and perhaps, every now and again, a solid spanking. I needed the reminder, as we all do from time to time, that when it seems like nothing is going right, I've still got love at my back. Think about the one close to you who provides the same, and everything else seems just a little smaller.
Well said x {Goes off to listen to the song on youtube}

ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoyed the song, Karen!
ReplyDelete*hugest of hugs back* You're welcome.
Keagen, that is a lesson I learned a long lifetime ago, unfortunately such lessons are often forgotten through the hurley burly of life.
ReplyDeleteI'm old now and life sometimes looks bleak, so thank you for this timely reminder, yes I still have love.
She is not a bad singer either. :)
Warm hugs,
Paul.
