Definition. . . . .

Today, I have but a simple thought, one that I've thought about for a couple days. . . .

Submission is not being a doormat. It's being willing to have your will overridden by one that you trust to protect at all costs, without reservation or resentment.

*simply* My will is far too powerful, and my desire for control far too strong, but both of those facets of myself are coping skills I learned as a child, necessary for survival. I hate when they get in the way of my submission, for I so badly want to give myself to him unreserved. I do not consciously hold back. . . . . but my walls have yet to crumble fully. . . . . . *softly* Submission is a journey, not a goal, and with every step I take, I learn new and powerful lessons that I wouldn't trade for anything. Some of them are painful, some come with mind-blowing growth, and others come with set-backs, but are lessons learned nonetheless.

If submission is a part of your dynamic, what does it mean to you?

  1. Keagen, in this day and age women are actively taught to be strong and independent.
I have watched subs struggling to let go of ingrained cultural conditioning and greatly admire those who do this.
Today a woman's submission is a greater gift then ever before and I have always valued as such.
    Warm hugs,
    Paul

  2. Submission is a weird thing that is for sure. I want and have gave my submission to someone. Then there are times I want to take it back but to me once it is given it should never be taken back. I just need to bite the bullet and listen. I trust him with my whole heart and he knows best. I can be thick headed and stubborn at times. Kea I wish I could write like you. Great article once again.

  3. All I know is that if I had someone in my life that were willing and trusted me enough to give me that gift, I would be flattered beyond belief, and there is no way I could do anything but value it. I would find any way I could to show my appreciation for that gift, and to that person in general.

  4. Hi Keagen, I think it is a gift as well as a reciprocal arrangement, as the spanker has to show good judgement and balance. I don't think any sub/spankee is going to be happy with a capricious top who paddles on any trivial pretext. Submission as used in a popular context often means submission to someone you loathe or don't respect, almost a completely different matter. Gerald
